So delighted to share a huge West Seventy Nine update with you all!!
As you all know, we are the swim and beachwear brand known for bringing boho to poolside chic, and today we have announced to the press that our Spring Summer 19 collection is solely made from recycled Lycra.
We have partnered with the Masters at Carvico – the leading Italian Lycra
house – to create an entirely new line of swimwear made from ECONYL®, a 100% regenerated nylon fibre made from post-consumer waste.
With the fashion and textile industry currently the second largest polluter in the
world, more and more brands are trying to operate more consciously. The new West Seventy Nine collection will be made from post-consumer waste – for example discarded fishing nets, industrial plastic waste or fabric scraps - that will be regenerated by a complex chemical-physical process and reimagined as stylish, high quality bikinis and swimsuits.
In more good news for beach and pool goers, ECONYL® Lycra lasts 10 times as
long in chlorine and salt water, and is twice as resistant to sun lotion – meaning the new SS19 “Save our Seas” collection can be enjoyed time and time again without wear.
“As beach lovers we are passionate about reducing our contribution to the amount of waste that ends up in the sea each year – so we are setting goals that will ensure our future collections are both stylish and sustainable.
It is our responsibility to provide our customers with the option to buy beautiful
swim and beachwear that has been ethically produced – and the new SS19 “Save
our Seas” collection enables us to do just that”.
